FRESH AND DELICIOUS FOOD

Meals and dining form an important part of home life at Mendip Lodge. Residents are involved in menu planning and choices reflect the wishes of the most important people in the home. All meals are prepared onsite by a home-chef and wherever possible, local produce is used. All ingredients are of a good quality and if residents prefer a particular brand of product this can be organised. Breakfast can be a simple meal of toast and cereal or a full traditional English breakfast.

Residents can choose if they wish to have breakfast in their rooms or in the communal dining room and can also say what time they would prefer. Lunch is usually the main meal of the day offering at least two choices and a vegetarian option. Nourishing food is well presented at tables laid with linen table cloths and napkins. Residents can say how much or little they want and offered sauces and condiments. At least two courses with puddings being a particular favourite of many! Early evening is supper time with lots of choices of savoury and sweet food.

Throughout the day choices of hot and cold drinks are always available and regularly offered. There is a more formal mid-morning service with biscuits if desired and in the mid-afternoon a choice of home-made cakes and biscuits. There are evening snacks offered with hot or cold drinks if residents wish and this can be available to coordinate with bedtime routines. Savoury snacks or fresh fruit is always available.

The atmosphere at meal times is an especially important part of daily life at Mendip Lodge and staff will have their meals with the residents or will be seated with them offering assistance if needed. Recognising the importance of a healthy diet through food and fluid intake Mendip Lodge strive to make sure choices are actively promoted and all nutritional intake is as attractive as possible through both content and service. If any person does not want any of the choices on the menu there are additional lighter meals which can be prepared without notice.
